Question 1 :

Total No of Dignitaries : 225
Total No of Seat Available : 3 x 70 (3 stands each 70 seats)
= 210

The extra chair needed = 225-210 = 15 seats.

Question 2 :
Total No of Flat = 17
Each float require 1026 carnation
Total number of carnation required : 17 x 1,026 = 17,442 carnations
500 carnations cost $189.50, therefore 1 carnation cost = 189.50/500 = $0.379
The cost to decorate all 17 floats = Total number of carnation required x cost per carnation
= 17,442 carnation x $0.379 = $6,610.518

let x reresent 70 seats
x=70

3x+y=225
3(70)+y=225
210+y=225
y= 15 seats

2)500/189.50=1026/x
500x=194427
x=388.85

1026 carnations cost $388.85, then 1 carnation cost $.378

there are 17442 carnations in 17 floats.
$.378x17442=$6610.45
