I purchased a town house in sept 2006. Ever since there is a gradually worsening problem.
After a shower the bathroom floor waste stinks.(Upstairs). also there is a horrible stink in my Kitchen(downstairs) during rainy weather, or after I have used washing machine.
When the wash is letting out water into the laundry tub, it flows out of the tub fine, but it comes up the floor waste of the laundry, sometimes about 1/2 a bucket full, and this once contained some rubble !!!!
Help, I am not flush with money, and I will repay any advice by applying my 25 years of nursing experience to the respondent, it certainly doesn't help me here!!!

There is blockage or a broken pipe somewhere. You can purchase a "snake" from the hardware store. Run it through the drain slowly until you get good resistance. This would be the blockage. Try to puncture the blockage with the snake. If it works, you're in the clear. If it doesn't, you may have to have someone come in with a video snake to see what the problem is. Feel free to email me with any other questions. Good luck.

Sounds like a clogged vent which when added liquid to the system forces sewer gas air into the living quarters.
