The view you saw I can guarantee wasn't live. The satellites that photograph the Earth for the public fly by at over 13,000 miles per hour and take strips of photographs, piecing them together. You can see these for free on http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=wichita,+ks Zoom in to the area of interest and click Satellite. These pictures are usually around a year or two old.
