You need a radar gun. You could also see how far it goes and time how fast it gets there then multiply it out to get miles per hour.

Freezing rain this morning so I went out on the street and let a few rip at a local police car. He was in Timmy's getting some crullers and didn't have the radar set up so I am not sure..I'll try again tomorrow..

lol well if you go to the hockey hall of fame in Toronto they have an exhibit there where you can measure your slapshot speed it is free to and makes for a fun trip if you are a big hockey fan :)

You could time it and then divide the time it took to go the distance it went. That will give you a speed.
