if you've read my previous questions then you know that I love John Frusciante the best. Who do you think woul win? Please support your answer with a reason. If you have trouble with determining what to compare on then consider this:
1. If John had to play "Comfortable Numb" and David had to play "Snow Hey Oh" then who would do it better? And if Eddie had to play one of their songs and they had to play one of Eddies? Who do you think knows more about the guitar technically?

John Frusciante, of course. He's one of the best guitar players ever. He's not that overrated, and he's got the passion for his work. You can figure that on stage. It's a whole different world when he's on stage. Have you seen "Off The Map"? That's a beautiful example. It's like if he had lived his whole life just for playing guitar, his solo career is amazing, and just with a few chords. Don't "fall in love" with album solos (i'm talking about Snow), of course he's got a lot of brilliant solos in records, like the "Mellowship Slinky in B Major" one, or the one on "Stone Cold Bush" (i love all John's old stuff with the Peppers, new stuff kinda sucks), but the point is you have to watch and feel the live ones, the "What is Soul?" jam, the intros and outros (like Paris 2003). All improved "movements" on stage. He's brilliant. And just what i've said before, with a few chords.

David Gilmour is overrated, in my opinion. John Frusciante is great, but Eddie Van Halen is the best in terms of technical skill. He's also an excellent songwriter (guitar parts, anyway) and improviser.

I think its Eddie Van Halen. No doubt Zakk Wylde is an amazing guitarist too.

Well, Gilmour always had great guitar tones, but EDDIE is the man! ..that is, if Eddie could get distracted enough to pull himself away from his current passion for doing music for porno soundtracks. I won't mention the Frusciante kid cause i wasn't a really big RHCP fan, sorry.

Gilmore can express more in one single note, than most guitarists can in a lifetime. Truly an innovator, and truly underrated only because his music was fringe at the time.
