well a lot of different things so into casting! umm chava does not sing that much right, isn't she the youngest of the 3 older daughters, i don't remeber her singing much (in the play, i was also in it) anyway she is probably a metso ( between alto and sap) ! plus acting probably figured into the casting decision! oh well you can't win em all! good luck next time! I know it sucks not being cast but sometimes that happens... not everyone can get the parts they want!

I even have in no way seen Fiddler on the Roof with out an actor on the roof playing his device. He won't actual be playing the music, yet he's up there doing his portion of no longer point out on the top whilst Tevye is leaving Anatevka he does purely a sprint a dance with Tevye. it is iconic to assert the least. additionally, even regardless of the undeniable fact that the Fiddler does not sing in that distinctive function, the Fiddler can double as an ensemble member a bottle dancer, any style of issues so it incredibly is suited if he's waiting to sing and dance. *confirm you have a level hand or 2 recognizing the ladder, stairs, or skill by skill of which the fiddler is to be constructive in the roof. it is frequently dark and diverse circumstances incredibly risky because it incredibly is. and it is orchestra. Sorry, yet i'm somewhat choosy approximately that. i'm hoping your director makes the main appropriate determination and has the Fiddler on the roof... in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it must be accomplished in a secure way. injury a leg!

I'm assuming that there were probably factors apart from mere vocal range that went into the director's casting decision.

However, if you're in doubt about it (and, obviously, you are), you should make a time to speak with the director and ASK him or her why you weren't cast, and what you could have done differently to make a better impression. When you're in the academic theatre (High School or College), the audition process is part of the LEARNING process, and your directors should be happy to talk to you about it afterwards.

Maybe she just had a better voice. My best friend can sing soprano and high soprano. I can sing alto, soprano and high soprano, but the fact comes down to the tone and the pitch, some people are born with better pipes and some people prefer certain ideas of what sound they're looking for. Don't be jealous.

I've heard that many men don't like a high soprano voice. I include myself in that number. I much prefer an alto singer.

maybe it wasn't your singing... maybe they felt she better fit the character.
