Yes.
Maybe it's because I'm in a lot of musicals, but multiple military officials also wear them to keep the shirt nicely tucked in (it is connected to the socks.) but suspenders are just what some people need to do their job and look good while doing it.

Yes, when I was in the Marines we had to wear them with our service uniforms...in order to give the dress shirt and very straight and proper appearance by pulling it down while also keeping the socks up and taught. It helped us look very sharp at all times.

no. they're completly pointless not to mention stupid looking. This isn't 16th century England where socks wouldn't stay up. If the elastic is loose throw them out and buy some new socks.
