1.
3 x 70=210
225-210=15
15 extra chairs

2.
17 x 1026=17442
17442/500=34.884 or 35
34.884 x 189.5=6610.518 35 x 189.5=6632.5
$6610.52 $6632.50

I know they're kinda different...but .... I would go for $6632.5
but make your own decision!
hope I helped!

For number one you have to take 70 times 3 so you know how many seats you have already then take that number and subtract it from 225 to see what the remainder is. The remainder is the number of extra seats needed.
70x3=?
225-?=extra seats needed for the dignitaries

For number two you have to take 189.50 and divide it by 500 so you can see how much each carnatin costs then mutiply that number by 1026 to get the total cost for 1 float, then multiply that by 17 to get the total for all 17.

189.50/500=?
?x1026=total to decorate 1 float
multiply that by 17 to see the total cost for all the floats

#1 should work out to 15
#2 should work out to 6610.52

1)
Lets supose that it is necesary to add x number of seat to 3 stands, then...
70(3) + x = 225
x= 225-210
x= 15

15/3 = 5
so you need to add 5 seats to each stand

2)
Each float needs 1026 and there are 17
in total there are 17 x 1026 = 17442 carnations
Each carnations costs 189.50 / 500 = $0.3779
Total cost? 0.3779 x 17442= $6610.518

1) 15

3 * 70 = 210
225 - 210 = 15

2)$6610.52

$189.50 / 500 = $0.379 per carnation
17 * 1026 = 17442 carnations
17442 * $0.397 = $6610.52
