It seems like I am always down, and I find happiness in very few things anymore... Please don't tell me to go to counceling or take prescription anti-depressants, but what can I do to improve this?

Can't really take a vacation or buy myself anything anyhow, moneys sort of tight since it was just Christmas.

you're in my club...i'm the exact same way...in fact sometimes i think i'm really crazy because nothing fills that empty gap...i could be out with friends, family, new experiences, and yet that empty gap gets deeper and deeper......as i go crazy trying to figure it out...

Try to find out the reason(s) that makes you feel this way. Be honest about it, acknowledge it and deal with it in a positive way. Plus you can pursue hobbies you have always wanted to try but never did. Try to do something out of the ordinary things that you usually do (nothing crazy but anything within reason). You'll be amazed that we actually create our own boredom in life.
I was tight on money for 3 years but managed to find pastimes that didn't require me to spend much. Blockbuster.com for $18/month - I watched DVD movies as often as I could. I practiced more on my biking skills since I just learned to ride the bike less than a year ago and I needed to know more tricks . . . etc.

I suggest counseling for your depression. Try a new diet that is high in natural nurtients. I feel some of your problem stems from your diet. Take a mult vit that offers 100% of what you need daily. And try some protein drinks/shakes. V8 is good too.

I agree with the working out, but not because of the chicks. Exercise gives you endorphins which boost your energy levels and your happiness levels. I've been where you are, and my best times were riding bikes, swimming laps, or jumping on the trampoline with the neighbor kids.

exercise is a good option. maybe you are just stuck in a rut and need to get out and experience new things. a vacation always helps too, I hope that you start to feel better soon :)

try out as many different things as you can and find something that you enjoy. Also, try to figure out what is really making you the most depressed. is it your job? money? relationships? and try to fix that. Good Luck!

Start working out. When you get buff and see all the chickies flocking your way you'll feel awesome.
