The sadness related to the fact that my husband has terminal cancer. I learned that we have to live life one day at a time and enjoy every day to the fullest because we never know when life will change drastically or which day might be our last. I have changed in that I am no longer as carefree and don't have the same joy in life. I have also learned that the only way to cope is to adapt to whatever happens and go on. What will I do differently this year? Probably many things, since I may be alone before the end of this year.

I learned that I didn't spend nearly enough time with my mom before she passed away. I loved her so much and spent a whole lot of time with her in my 47(at the time) years. When she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer I spent even more time with her. I could have spent two more life times with her and still not had enough of her sweet smile, her kind voice, her loving touch, her unconditional support. Her death encouraged me to go back into the hospice field. I am a stronger person than I ever thought I was. I never thought that I would be able to go on if I lost either of my parents but I can. What it taught me to do differently is to pay more attention to the people in my life. To always remember to let them know how much I love them and how important they are to me. I taught me not to take one second for granted or to misuse my time in self pity or to waste a minute of a day in sadness or despair.
This year I will love more, smile more, speak to people even if they don't speak back. I will play with my godson's child more and spend time with my son and his wife. I will thank god for the beautiful blues skies and the warm sunlight. I will play ball with my basset hound Harley and spend time just wandering around in the woods around our house with him. There are many things about my recent experiences in 2006 that I hope will help me be a better person in 2007.

I will be taking away ZIP from last year.

There's a point in life when you have been through enough and seen enough to know that as long as you had no horrible experiences or loss you're pretty grateful and not looking to take away more than that.

Sounds Like you are doing an essay.....
I learned to do my own work, and I learned to be self-confident.
This year I want to watch all the crud I eat.
