My lower back gets really tense and super tight, and that tightness works around to my sides and under my belly (where I can actually feel some pain, like a period cramp) and then into my pelvis and thighs.
I need some damn pain with these. I get regular forever braxon hicks, and they dont hurt either. I didnt find out I was having full on contractions until they hooked me up to a monitor today (checking my BP more than anything... they just happened to ask about the pain level of the contractions... lol) but they said they were just pre-labor contractions.
1-3 hour deliveries run on both sides of my family, even for the first. Ive lost my plug (doctor checked me) and iam effaced (60-70% as of tuesday), the baby is dropped and engaged.
This is my turn to ask dumb questions about pregnancy and labor on here...lol.
Thanks guys.

LOL Isn't it funny that by the end of our pregnancies, we're BEGGING for those damn contractions to HURT?
It sounds like you might be experiencing some mild contractions, but (and I know EVERYONE probably tells you this), real contractions...the ones that will help your baby move down the birth canal...hurt like a MUTHA.
I was just laughing with my husband the other day about how I used to say, "I think I just felt a contraction." Yeah right..when I felt the REAL thing..there was no "thought" involved. :-)
Since you have a family history of short labors (bless you), then if I were you, I would wait till they're about 10 min apart until you go to the hospital. Normally, doctors tell you to wait until they are 5 min apart and so intense that you can't talk through them, but like I said, since you have the history, I would go (or call) sooner than that.
Awww..good luck! You'll get a chance to meet you're little sweetie in no time!!

There actually are (super lucky) women who do not experience painful labor. However, I´m tempted to think these are just the warm-up contractions...something between Braxton-Hicks and true labor. Also, remember that effacement usually comes first and then you begin to dialate. Dialation is what I remember as being the painful part. Get your bag packed, handle other last minute details, stay near a phone? How far apart are the contractions? Every 5 minutes, and you should definitely be heading off to the hospital, especially considering your history.

Yes, these are contractions. Every woman is different, sounds like back labor to me. I don't think it will be long before your baby is here. As someone who also has quick deliveries I can tell you if your going to be like your family history they will start coming hard and fast and the real pain starts after your water breaks.

Sounds like it! Go take a warm shower and make sure everything is packed. Start keeping track of them. If they are getting closer together and/or stronger, call the doc and find out if he wants you in the hospital or to wait it out a little longer.

yep!! those are the ones, lol
if your doc said they are prelabor though-- try drinking a glass of water and laying on your left side--if they are the prelabor ones (I dont mean braxton hicks) then they will go away after doing so.
otherwise--this may be it!!
Good luck!
