My kids and I are saving the state quarters and we have all the way up to North Dakota but not the last quarter for 2006 which is South Dakota. Have they just not made S.D. yet?

I just got one the other day! I have lots of all the rest so far!! I like to go to the bank and get a roll of the newest quarter that was released. But you have to go right after they release them because the banks run out fast. Also, I have found that they are usually all brand new and never circulated yet. (not in the general population yet, anyway). Also, I go to the smaller banks instead of big name ones, they seem to have them more often than the big banks. Good luck!

They are out there, keep looking. One thing people don't understand about the state quarters are, that they are not treated like anything special by the Federal Reserve. Most Federal Reserve banks will send them out to the other banks if asked for specifically, if not, they just send what is next in the bin. I have noticed in some parts of the country, banks work more with their customers than other parts. The letters to the Editor in coin papers have told me so. They will show up sooner or later.

I got one in change the other day. The coin looks great. My bank says they should have some available this month. When they are available depends on when your local bank order quarters from the federal reserve.

My kids and I collect them also and we are trying to get both the "d" and "p" mint marks. We usually get the "d" first because we are in CA, but with the SD one we found the "p" first and the "d" a few weeks later, but yes they are out. Keep looking or ask your bank they usually have full rolls of the new ones.
