There is no grace period for rent. If your rent is due on the 1st ... it's due on the 1st.

The grace period you are referring to is for the late fee ... NOT the rent.

A landlord can give you any sort of grace period he or she wants before charging a late fee as long as it doesn't contradict the law.

Some states don't allow a late fee until after a certain number of days, but other than that, it is up to the individual landlord.

YREZ gave u a answer of 60 days he or she is crazy u would be evicted! Read your lease the date rent is late is on it, along with the late fees if u pay late. Or to make it easier just call the office and ask what date is rent considered late, try not to be late it really can hurt ur rental history later on. If u r going to be late tell the office and give them the exact date u r paying and ask what the late fees r and make sure u include that amt. with ur rent. Happy New Year!

zero days unless your contract states otherwise.

most landlords grant 5 or 7 days grace period, though, recognizing that if the 1st is on a holiday or weekend, payment can be difficult.

If differs from landlord to landlord. Look in your lease. It your lease does not have a grace period stated in it. Then by law, your landlord cannot charge you a fee.
But beware! Also look in your lease and find out the ramifications of non-payment, and how long you have until the landlord can legally evict you.

It should say in your contract. Most places I've lived give you until the 5th without having to pay a penalty.

I think it actually depends on the landlord. You might want to check your contract to be safe.
