If you accepted does it tell you right away or do you have to read it in three paragraphs. Or how about if you are denied? Does it tell you all the way in the bottom of the letter. Is it one paragraph. How many paragraphs are they in general say for a UC.

It will tell you in the first paragraph. Usually the first sentence or so.

But yes, the general rule of thumb is: thick, fat envelope = acceptance; thin, letter sized envelope = rejection.

If by UC, you mean University of California, I remember them being just a few paragraphs. One page either way. But a big envelope with catalogs and all these forms if you got in, small letter if you didn't. Most schools are like that.

Well, sometimes the acceptance ones come inside a folder, so you have to open that up to see the letter, which is a bit of a letdown. For example, I got one recently that said "Welcome to the Honors Program at Boston College" on the front, without telling me I'd been accepted at all until I opened it up. Then on the inside it said "I am delighted to offer you admission to the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston College." Other times they start off with "Congratulations!" and then inform you of your admission or whatever.

As for denials... I haven't gotten one from a college (at least not yet...), but I think they generally start off with something like "I'm sorry, but..." And then if you're deferred from early decision or early action, or if you're wait-listed, I have no idea.

Oh - and some schools don't send the big admissions packet until they've already sent the letter in a small envelope, so small envelopes don't always mean you've been denied admission.

well i dont know about denial letters but my acceptance letters have all said congratulations you have been accepted or somthing like that in the first paragraph. i would guess that denial letters would be the same. most letters are 3 paragraphs or so long.

Usually if you are accepted a large packaged envelope will come. Full of brochures, acceptance letter, and other informational info.

Denial is usually a letter saying you are not accepted.
