Cuz the dog knows on some level that you gave him a mean name. Rename him something decent and he will know you really care about him.

you shouldn't have done that because he is now afraid of you and that is not a nice name to give your dog. rub it's belly and comfort it. talk gentley and amke up a new aname and keep calling that. And give treats and be really nice he will come to you.
