I have wondered the same thing.
There is a small group near Crawford, Texas that support Condi, and have put up billboards to that effect.
The problem is that no one is really a front runner right now. Why? Because the Republicans drifted away from their supporters, and the Democrats have not maintained a clearly defined agenda.
What is truely frightening is the amount of voters that will vote for a candidate simply because that candidate is a female, or black, or christian, or whatever. I think that until we get back to the values that this country was built on (if we ever can) that the apathy of most Americans will leave the voting power in the hands of a minority of the population.
In regards to the person from Brittain that chimed in. I think perhaps you are a victim of media bias. In Sept. of 2006 I traveled to the UK, England, Isle of Man, and Japan. In every country, the media portrayal of US events and persons was decidedly slanted. While it is true that Americans are not well regarded in other countries, I think that view is based upon the information they are fed. If you get to know what Americans are like...not just the 1% you hear about in the media, you will realize that we are not all as shallow as you assume.
No matter what, vote. If you don't voice your opinion with a vote, you should voice it on internet forums.

The next US president will maintain the status quo of white male millionaire.White America, Black America, no America is ready for a Black or minority president. Why should someone be president simply b/c of the color of their skin??!! 8-(. Obama is more than qualified (over 33, citizen born in the USA) intellectually, morally, and practically for the US presidency. But old habits die hard. The primary voting block (white, well-to-do, over 45, children in college, conservative viewpoints, etc) are not going to support a Black or minority president. Hell no, the next thing you know Old Jed will be rolling in his grave knowing that rap music is blaring from the pristine White House.
Condi is a very intelligent person and a Black woman with deep roots in the culture of Black America. But she is not a representative of present day Black America. She is from the ultra-conservative (how straight is yo' hair) Black middle class (sub-culture) of the pre-Civil Rights Era. She is a pawn in the political game and the Republican Party. White conservative America enjoys her support of "W", but they will NOT EVER give her the nod. Rich Black Americans don't give a rat's behind about the interests and needs of True Hardcore Urban Groups of Black America. P Diddy and Oprah only recognize the money that is siphoned out of the "hood". They aren't doing anything to build real power in the urban onclaves of Black America. So Black America in the hood (who don't vote anyway) aren't listening to or caring about who those two rich idiots support. Middle Class Black America (families with mortgages and good jobs) are looking for the best candidates to promote the American dreams and ideas: freedom, justice, equality, liberty, and prosperity. Stable Black America (middle class aspirations) wants the same thing as all middle class (hard-working, tax paying, educated) America wants. We want an honest brokerage, and if he happens to be a Black American (Obama), so be it.

i personal think that Clinton and Obama don't really have a chance. i am all for Vilsack he did bring the Dem's and rep together in Iowa and he has never lost a race he had ran for.
and for the rep they don't have a chance at winning. Giuliani would play up the 9/11 thing to much and that would just be annoying. and it is still early and maybe condi rice Will try to run. and i don't think Oprah would support him if she would support anybody it would be a Dem bc they help out poor people, i think her support would be for obama.
and since when was p.diddy a influential person in politics.
but it is to early to say bc there are only a couple of people who have actually announced that they were running.

I'm not trying to sound racist or anything, but it seems like most minorities in this country are going to vote democratic and thus (like oprah) are more likely to back say Obama instead of Condi. Just because she is a woman doesn't mean she deserves an election.

Shame condi is black ,she is clearly the most intelligent, forward thinking and suitable person for the job.
I wouldnt like to see a black president despite these qualities.
Blacks have been given too much in advancement without merit already and a black president would unbalance the status quo.
Wouldnt someone with her political genuis and personality be ideal ruling an african nation?

Condi isn't running. Oprah & P Diddy wouldn't back her because she is a Republican. They would probably call her an Oreo. I would back her if she ran.

It is because she would be a continuation of the failed policy's of the Bush administration, in short American can not afford her, morally or financially. She would be an awful choice as president, and besides can you see a repuglican convention nominating anything but an old white man.

WAY too early to tell, but my best bet for nominations would be:
Democrat: Jim Webb of Virginia
Republican: Rudy Giuliani
Of the two, I think Rudy has the edge.
I think Obama blew his chance when he admitted cocaine usage. Why is no one backing Condi? She doesn't want to run.
