First of all, gold fish are a cold water fish. As long as your temperature is in the 60's, your gold fish should be fine. A gold fish in tropical temperatures would die. Second of all, you just got the fish. Putting the fish in new water is a big shock for it. It may not eat for a day or so until it gets used to it's environment. How big is your tank? If you put a gold fish in a bowl, it probably wont live very long because gold fish normally eat and poop a lot and the poop causes the ammonia levels to rise killing the fish. You are going to have to be changing the water every other day if it's in a small container. I reccomend a 10 gallon tank. Goldfish also grow quite large. Make sure you buy some sort of water conditioning to get rid to chlorine, ammonia, and chloro-amides. It would be good to get something that would neutralize the water too. Good luck with your fish.

Could be any number of things. Some of which are serious, others not so much. Any other symptoms (eg.; hanging out at the bottom of the aquarium, little white dots, mangled fins)? Or it could just be a moody fish. Check with your fish store or online. Of course, I'm a little concerned about a fish named "Squishy." Tell me Squishy wasn't squished.

fish rely on heat of air temperature for movement and many other things.i had the same problem with my turtle. it might not be used to ur home yet. maybe buying more goldfish or waiting for a while or moving it to a warmer place wood work. try moving it first...then waiting a while and finally more goldfish.

Often fish won't eat after they are moved to a new tank. Make sure that you are changing the water DAILY for your goldfish.
Goldfish get quite big and will live 25+ years if taken care of properly. You will need to get a larger tank if you intend on keeping him.
