Honestly, it depends on the fish. With some fish, it is hard to tell between males and females, while others are fairly easy. Some fish are very difficult to breed while others are very easy. It really just depends on what type of fish you are trying to breed.

The best thing to do is lots and lots of research. To get started, choose a fish and use an internet search engine to find out all you can about your fish, like care, feeding, ideal kind of environment, lighting etc. During your research you will probably find information on breeding or find that captive breeding has not been successful. You could be successful where others have not. Good Luck.

It depends on the fish. Evey fish does things a little bit differently. What kind of fish are you thinking of breeding?

This depends on the fish. Every species is different and sexing them depends on the species.

Post the type of fish you are interested in and we can answer.

Most pet stores can sex them when you buy them if you are inexperienced.

Make sure if they are guppies or platys or most livebearers, you have 2 to 3 females to every male.
