At school today, I was feeling many sharp pains in my foot after gym class. Turned out that I had 3 splinters, probably because I walked trough the locker room shoeless afterwards. So I went to the nurse. They saw that I was limping, but refused to do anything so they could eat lunch. So I sat there for 15 minutes with no attention, whatsoever. Once they finished, they asked what the problem was. I showed them. So she cleaned off a pair of sharp tweesers, and threw them at me and stated "Here. Take them out yourself". I was truely appaled at what they did. For they never did a thing to help. AND SHE THREW THEM AT ME. I was also annoyed that she made me do it myself. THIS WAS UNCALLED FOR. DONT YOU AGREE???

Not really. Im sure it was a liability issue. Not that Im agreeing with how the 'nurse' handled it but I can bet she wasn't a 'real' nurse. I can make this response really long but I won't.

Bottom line is, in an effort to save money, MANY schools are hiring nurse assistants (no offense but they're not 'real' nurses) so they're limited as to what procedures they can actually perform. Possibly pulling the splinter out couldve been one of the things she couldnt (or wasnt allowed) to do. I know it sounds ridiculous but I recently read about a similar situation like that, that happened at a high school.

due care and attention.......you didn't use it so you paid. those people thought you were stupid because you didn't use due care and attention.

in public spaces, we who work in the service industry, use signs saying "no shoes, no shirt, no service". simply, these conditions create hazards as displayed by your splinters. your own safety in public is your business, with in reason (there are many others who don't exercise "DUE CARE AND ATTENTION).
