Their is a limit. For SSI the limit depends on how much your SSI is. For SSD the limit is Substantial Gainfull Activity (SGA) which is about $900.00 a month in Gross earned income. If you make SGA after a successfull trial work period your SSD will stop. For SSI, it is different. For SSI, you can make up to $65.00 in GROSS wages if you have unearned income (ex: SSD, VA, pensions, etc), or $85.00 a month if you have no other unearned income. After that first $85.00 or $65.00 dollars in gross earned income (income before taxes are taken out) ssi will take 1/2 of your earnings. They will take your earnings by reducing your future SSI checks. If you make $200.00 a month, before taxes, SSI will ignore the first $65.00 (or $85.00) $200.00-$65.00 =$135.00. SSI will then reduce your SSI check by 1/2 of $135.00, which is $67.50. Your SSI will be reduced about two months after you earn the wages, and it is important that you report your wages to the SSA ASAP or you will get an overpayment, which will cause your SSI to be reduced even more. So for SSI, it depends on how much your SSI is to start with. The more your make the less your ssi will be. You can get to a point where you make so much your ssi will stop. IF that happens, many states have a way for you to keep your Medicaid.

Yes, there is a limit as to how much you can earn while receiving SSI. I'm not sure what the amount is though.

My brother is on SSI and it's extremely low how much he can earn each month without lossing his SSI benefits. It's less than a $100 I think.

SSI pays beans, you can basically earn more money a month collecting carts at Walmart.
