people will always hate whoever the top club is at the time...but wot is this about tradition, i mean, huddersfield had tradition in the 30s...would that be remembered if they were taken over by a billionaire & went on to win major trophies, or would they be ridiculed for doing a chelsea....

The main reason people start to hate a team in England is success. Liverpool were hated after the 80s, Man Utd were hated when they were winning everything, and now its Chelsea. The Chelsea problem has been made worse because their manager is arrogant and they overspend just to make sure they get the men they want, and then leave them on the bench.

If Liverpool start to win the league consistently they will again be hated, and even more so if they go the route of Chelsea and put in silly money bids to get the players they want. However, Rafa is still a more likeable man than Moaninho.

It's unlikely that Liverpool would be hated like Chelsea if 'the Arabs take over'. The reason is simple: Rafa is not Jose.

JM is, by nature or design, arrogant, goes around looking for confrontation. It could be a policy to take the heat away from his players, it could be his limelight-seeking nature, but it doesn't matter. To this add the fact that this behavious rubs off his players. Chelsea then become a team everyone wants to lose, just to shut their manager and players up. People might hate Essien, Drogba, Lampard, but nobody hates Cech. It has to do with personality.

Rafa hasn't had huge funds to toy with during his career. However, looking at his behaviour, and how they reflect on his beliefs, I'd say that he is unlikely to turn as arrogant as Jose. Therefore, Liverpool would not be as hated as Chelsea. Furthermore, his style of buying is more team oriented, buying players who will fit into his plans (see Crouch who was totally derided at the time and who isn't doing that badly). Therein might lie the problem.

'The Arabs' are businessmen, and they expect a return on their investment. That comes from the assest including the stadium, from merchandising, but also from TV rights, champions league money which depend on how the team performs. The key question is how much patience they would have with Rafa, and how much pressure they would exert on buying of players - the Beckham rumours for example.

I think a lot will depend on the Liverpool fans. If they give Rafa an extra year after the take over to build his team, and still support the club in full voice, 'the Arabs' are more likely to give Rafa time. Look at SAF, he was allowed time, and is slowly delivering a formidable team: style and results.

no. Liverpool have good history

the reason people hate chelski is they have a bad history and suddenly winning trophies all the time when they were just in mid table a season before the takeover

rafa will not lose his head coz he already got a squad that are good enough to win the table

(I'm NOT a Liverpool fan)

Thats purely conjecture, Liverpool have a proud history will titles under their belt both domestic and european.

Liverpool will never be hated by the masses because they traditionally ooze football.

Like any Prem club they have their fair share of foreign talent but Liverpool FC are (in my eyes) for the fans and not for the shareholders or owner, be it a foreign player or home grown they will be appreciated for playing for LFC.

Chelski simply bought the title - fair play they had a full season to do it but they have no tradition

Rafa will loose his job before he looses his head

If you want to be narrow-minded then yes;if you enjoy good football then NO. I don't care about a player's nationality - just his skill and his heart.
