I'm a first time and last time buyer of a Hampton Bay Fan. I bought a Redington IV fan about 6 months ago and it just stopped working. No great service from Hampton either. They want me to spend $45 on a transformer and of course its not covered under warranty. Did anyone else have trouble with these fans? I'm sticking with Hunters Fans. In 14 years in this house I never had a problem with all 6 fans.

YES! I just got it fixed today. The sensor on the fan for the remote burned out withing a month of using it. It's ridiculous. There are two different switches for the manual control and the remote, so if one doesn't work niether works. Will not buy from them again and will advise anyone against buying one.

is it just a fan / light combo? or does it have a wireless remote or have heat or anything? is it a low end model or high end one? does the whole thing stop working or just the fan part?

i know some times the receiver in wireless ones go bad, mainly because they are designed for like 40 or 60 watt bulbs and people put 100 watt ones in there. That's also the number one reason light dimmer and motion activated switches go bad, I'm an electrician and i have replaced many of these devices and some are rated for like 600 or 900 watts and i check the load and see 1100 or 1300 watts and open up the switch/dimmer and see its all melted inside.

if you have a regular fan and it only works on one fan speed or does not work on all the speeds it could be a bad pull chain switch or windings in the motor coil have gone bad.

if you have more info, questions drop me a line

I have very good luck with Hampton bay fans . They have lasted for years and years. Hunters are great if you want to spend a lot of cash. They wear out too.

Everything is made in China.... don't expect anyhting to work like it used to.... & don't buy from the big Orange Hardware Store if you are looking for Customer Service

just cover them with plastic and tape, should work. I've never seen fan covers.
