I would say the biggest surprise in the 2006 NFL Season was the New Orleans winning the division this season.

Yes, first, I think the Saints winning the division was the BIGGEST surprise. The next big surprise would probably be the 49ers going 7-9 and knocking the Broncos out of playoff contention in Week 17. At the beginning of the season, the thought probably never crossed anyone's minds that the Niners would actually be in the playoff hunt around Week 15, late in the season. For me, the Niners were probably the biggest surprise, and with Alex Smith and Frank Gore, the 49ers should be even better next year. Imagine that.

There were LOTS of surprises this year: the poor peformance of the Dolphins, Cardinals, Broncos, Panthers, Bengals and of course the Steelers. The late surge of the Eagles with Garcia for sure. The Jets were a big surprise and the Ravens.
But I really have to agree that the biggest of the season was the Saints. I don't think ANYBODY saw THAT coming!

Saints were a pretty big surprise but the Steelers going
8-8 after winning the Super Bowl was a surprise to me

The biggest surprise has to be the way the Titans started the season, this team was the last undefeated team last year and was complete garbage at the beginning of this season....
