You multiply the fraction by the reciprical of what you're trying to divide it by. The reciprical just means you switched the places of the numerator and the denominator.
Ex. (1/2)/(3/4)
Find the reciprical of 3/4. It's 4/3.
(1/2)*(4/3)=4/6
Reduce the fraction
4/6=2/3

By your wording, I understand that you want to divide a fraction by a number. Let us say the fraction is p/q and the number is n.

You want to divide p/q by n. This is the same a multiplying by 1/n. You will multiply the denominator by n.

p/q divided by n = p/(q*n)

If you want to divide by a fraction, this is the same as multiplying by the inverse of the fraction.

e.g.,

p/q divided by n/r = p/q multiplied by r/n = (p*r)/(q*n)
