I am an extremely heavy sleeper. Because of this my alarm clock must ring a couple times before I actually wake up (I turn it off in my sleep). Once I am awake it is hard to get out bed, even if I've had a full night of undisturbed sleep. I would like to have more time in the mornings, but even when I set my alarm 45 min. early my body won't wake up until my normal "late" time.

~put your alarm clock on the other side of your rom that way you have to actually get up and shut it off

~drink a lot of water before bed so when you get up you will have to go pee so you will get up and go

~go to bed earlier

~Force yourself to wake up when that alarm goes off early in the morning. If you make a habit of waking up early then it will get easier. It takes at least 30 days of repition to make a habit of anything. Stick to it for a month and you'll be fine. When you wake up, count to three and force yourself to sit. Then jump of your bed and you will not be so tired.

I have the same problem...I put an alarm clock across the room and it helps but I'd rather stay in bed (especially in the winter when it's cold.) I would try to put the heat up in the morning, so you're not cold (Use a thermostat timer and set it to a warm temperature 72 degrees maybe. Set the thermostat to increase the temperature about 15 minutes before you get up and have it gradually lower the temperature a degree every 10 minutes after you have gotten up so you won't waste heating oil) Next I would leave as much time in the morning as possible. Say if you had to leave for work at 8:00 am then get up at 5:00. This gives you an hour to wake up, eat breakfast watch TV, then an hour to take a shower and another hour to get ready. The last thing I would suggest is to get one of those sun lamps which simulates the sun and makes it easier to get up in the morning. (see bottom) Good Luck.

well, there was this one alarm that vibrated and SCREAMED out to wake me up (heavy sleeper here too). Everyone says to put the alarm a few steps away from the bed so when it rings, you must get up to turn it off and that'll usually keep you up BUT, i tried that and i would just cover my ears or go up, hit the snooze button, and go back to sleep.

the best way will be setting multiple alarms. i have my phone alarm that will rings and VIBRATES (physical alarms wakes me up, like a brother jumping on you) every 5 mins. if that does't work, i have a regular alarm that rings and vibrates at the same time (those voice ones work well with me), finally, if that doesn't work, set the radio to blast music.

i hope this helps :)

I had the same problem chelsea, what you could do is try going to bed a bit earlier than usual, you can also set your alarm, to alarm twice, set the first one to an hour before the actual time you want to wake up (you might not wake up for this) so by the second time it alarms you will be more awake.
I know how hard it can be to actually get out of bed once you are actually awake, but what I did (this might sound a little wack) was to hit myself repeatedly and say "get up get up get up get up" and it worked...... eventually you won't have to do that anymore, you'll just get up naturally. :)

Before you get to bed, go to the Internet. In the Internet, find something you are really fascinated by, or really exciting. Like a game for example. Then, don't play or check it out again until tomorrow. Then, when you sleep, you can hardly sleep! When the alarm rings, then you will be so excited to check it out, that you'll wake up even earlier than your clock! That is what happened to me.

I have the same problem, some days nothing can get going in the morning. I just started making it a point that the second my alarm goes off to just stand up do anything to get out of bed and not let myself get back in it. I go and get some cookies (I'm a junk food junkie so this works for me) go watch the news, anything that's not still in bed.

that's just like me!

and the only time im actually alert is when i know im already late!

try looking for a good show on tv that you can look foward to in the morning, that might get you up.

i already tried the alarm across the room thing, the problem is, it's just too tempting after you go up to turn the alarm off, you turn around to face the nice soft bed...

Get more than one alarm clock. Set each one for 5 minutes later than the other, and put each alarm clock farther away from your bed so you MUST get out of bed to turn them off.

First, make sure you get AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep.
Second, get into a routine where you get up at the same time every day. Then you won't even need an alarm!

Thats what I do: I kind of had the same problem (I almost slept through a fire alarm in my college dorm if it wasn't for a roommate slapping me in the face).

i have the same problem and it is terrible. i also will wake up with PLENTY of time in the morning and still even though i am out of bed aren't productive and alert.

if my husband has already left for work i have him or a family member call me on the phone. when i answer they won't let me hang up till i am out of bed and in the bathroom - water running. i immediately brush my teeth, put in my contacts, and wash my face. i normally jump in the shower then too. i also make my bed quickly so that i can't be tempted to crawl back in. open your curtains, turn on the lights, and put on some upbeat music. i can't let myself be drawn into sitting at the computer, at the breakfast table, or in front of the tv b/c i will just zone out.

oh, i also start drinking caffeine right away! :) take care! Sd
