No, Dublin is Eire (Ireland) and is independent from the UK.
Northern Ireland however is part of the UK...It's all EU though.

1916 Easter Rising. After the leaders are executed, public opinion backs independence.
1921 Northern Ireland Parliament opened by King George V. Anglo-Irish Treaty creates the Irish Free State.
1922 Civil war breaks out.
1926 Fianna Fáil founded in the La Scala Theatre,O’Connell Street Dublin.
1932 First Fianna Fáil government led by Eamon De Valera elected.Oath of Allegiance abolished.
1937 New constitution enacted in the Irish Free State. The British Monarch is replaced as head of state by an elected president. The name of the state is changed to Éire (Ireland).

A bit like is Taiwan in China. Canada part of the US. Portugal in Spain.

Although the cost of postage from outside the UK to Ireland is likely to be the same as the UK price.

No, Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic. How can this be classed as the UK? It's like saying that London is classed as being in France!

I can kinda see where your coming from but don't worry it'll get there no prob. Grew up in Dublin 15 and had no problem getting any correspondence from anywhere in the world. It means though that YES you will have to spend more money on postage!!

If you send a letter to Dublin marked 'UK', it'll probably be burnt by the first Irishman it comes in contact with.

rage is quite right, but some Countries may use Eire or their own name for it depending upon which Country you post from.

For example, I live in Scotland, but sending land-mail from Malaysia I had to put Skotlandia.
