I'm asking because I'm starting a business and need a name for it and it needs to be a short name (for email&website). I live in a rural area and none of these services are available in 3 counties!! So there is a real need. The hospital that serves these 3 counties offers one "one size fits all" class that covers labor and delivery, with a tad of useless info about pregnancy and newborn care. There is no LC on staff, no doulas to call, no baby nurses for new moms to call for help.
I am offering only services, not selling anything.
I like the Mom in the names because I am a mom and I am the one offering the service, based on my experience as a mom (and a little education--but mostly because I am a mom and could have used these services with my 1st)

Michaluna--I'm dyslexic and nursing at the keyboard--forgive a girl a typo! It's just yahoo answers, if it were for the business I'd run a spell check and proof read--I'm not an idiot. Sheesh!!

I would go to prenatal and lactation classes, personally. You would want to do the prenatal by around 7 months in case you go into labor early. A good prenatal class should even cover the basics of early infant/nerborn care, so you wouldn't need a seperate class for that. The hospital where you deliver should be able to provide classes for you at a reasonable price.
I highly recommend taking a lactation or breastfeeding class around your 8th month. They usually have you bring a doll and practice the different holds and inform you about what to expect, lessening your worries and anxieties.
One other thing I would add to your list is an infant/child CPR class. The red cross sponsors this, again usually through your hospital. You learn the basics of cpr and also what to do in a choking situation and I found that to be such a great idea, both for my husband and myself, and my parents.

It doesn't really matter what order they are in, you should give all of them a call and check on these aspects,
Do they seem friendly?
Know what they are talking about?
Listen to you?
What is the schedule for the day?
Times?

It also helps if you check out the place where they are holding the teaching. By using your commomn sense, you can make observations to see if you would like them or not. Ask around to other people if they enjoy doing this and think it is worth what it is worth and gives you a good education.

'Post pardun'???

They're all a little too cutesy for me. 'Bellies and Babies' positively repels.

Re. 'Baby by Mom'...where's Dad?

'The Mommy Source' leaves out the father a bit too much again for me, and, again, too cutesy.

So -- 'The Baby Project' as a last resort, but it's a bit too reminscent of, well, hiring a contractor or something. You know -- after that, I'd be calling 'The Sink Project' about my kitchen and bath renovations.

I'd look for something more like '(My area) Pre- & Post-Natal Services. Certified by Etc Etc Etc.' The ones you mention all sound a little too much like they've got something to sell me -- you know, lactation consulting, and would I maybe like to buy a special pillow? Some nursing pads for my bra? Etc etc?

I never needed to call any because with my first child my doctor referred me to in-house programs for lamaze and newborn information classes. All of the other kids were pretty much old hand, I knew it already. Prayers =)

I would call my hospital and see what classes they offer. Where I live the classes are offered right at the hospital. Talk to your Drs. office, they will tell you.

Well, I wouldn't call the one listed under "post pardun" because that would be a sure fire tip off that the woman is uneducated and can't spell. The term you are looking for is postpartum. And it means after giving birth.
