How much did the hospital charge you (or your insurance company) for the birth. I had a c-section and both baby and me were in the hospital 4 days. There were no other complications (besides c-section) and the total cost was $19,515. Is this about average?

I have double insurance (I'm covered by myself and by my husband) so I was very fortunate and thankful that I wasn't responsible for any of it.

I didn't have insurance with my son. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks at 18 weeks with preterm labor. Again, hospitalised for 4 weeks at 24 weeks. In the hospital for 7 days when he was born,
he stayed for a week after that.
Total bills (including prenatal care, tests, meds., etc.)
$94,653.00
With my daughter, I had an induction, emergency c section, and complications. The complications included a staph infection in the incision which required 2 more surguries to cut infected and
dead tissue out of my stomach. I took about a year to heal as the incision was left open to drain and heal from the inside out.
Total bills (prenatal care, meds, tests, hospital, doctors, etc.)
$568,973
My husband had medical insurance, but we had exceeded the lifetime coverage cap, two years before having children.
I had gallbladder surgury, an appendectomy, and a broken
leg requireing 4 surguries. My husband had some problems of his own , as well.

Depends on the state. In my state, they make both parents split the cost of the DNA test. In other states, the state will do the dna test for free as part of the court order. Then he can demand that the court give him visitation and he can pay child support. The fiance will be unable to adopt the child. To other poster. Identigene is not $40. Your $40 is buying you a kit. You get to pay another $120 for the test. If you want to do online testing, there are less expensive, accredited places online that don't charge you $40 for a Q-tip, Ziplock and postage. Poster Bookish is absolutely the most ignorant person answering your question however. Blood typing is USELESS in ALL ways in identifying paternity either way. Proven over and over again.

When i had my son i had a lot of complications. They had to call in 2 specialists because my afterbirth didnt deliver and they had to use a vaccuum type thing on me. In all my total hospital bill added up to be 25,000 dollars. But it was because they had to call in 2 specialists that had to work on me for 2 and a half hours.

usua lly the hosp sends you and itemized bill..you have charges for the operating room...equipement..recovery room...not to mention two ob's had to be in the operating room along with the peditrician...anestologistist..if they didnt send you and itemized bill ask for one..every little pill you take they charge for..it also depends on what type of hosp you went to..if it was a hugh medical center my guess is the bill would be high as oppose to a smaller hospital...dont forget you will also have nursery charges for the baby...
oh and congrats!!!!!!
