You can use them to frame as a nice picture. If you do it right, using a nice matting or whatever, a nice Christmas card can really look like a nice wall hanging!!! Make a couple of them as a set!

I used my Christmas cards for this year as next year's gift tags. I cut the Christmas cards into shapes about 3" by 1" (varied a lot according to the design on the card) using a little scrapbooking paper cutter, then used a hole punch to make a hole in the corner. So I will just write on the back of the tag next year.

I think it would be cute to do the same and make bookmarks instead. You could make a cute yarn tassel to attach to the hole punch at the top. I think that's kind of a good kid's project, for giveaways to friends at school.

I have a couple of ideas for this....

I like to use them to decorate the packages I mail next year. I cut the fronts off, and just slip them into the box of Christmas decorations. Then, next season, after I have wrapped up the parcels for mailing, I choose a 'card face' and put it on the new package. People say they really like it.

As has been said, you can also use the fronts from this year's cards, and use them for next year. You get some 'blank' card stock at the craft section, and then just paste or glue the old card face onto the new blank one, and write your sentiments on the inside.

When I was a child, one of my Aunts gathered her favorite cards, and decoupaged (sp?) them onto thin boards, and made permanent Holiday placemats out of them.

If the cards have images on them, cut out the shapes of the part that you like (cookie cutter fashion). Then you attach that to some card stock, or glue it to left over manilla folders. You put a hole on top, attach a hanger or string, and presto, keepsake ornaments.

Have fun.

I've heard of people recycling them as postcards to send out the next year, just cut off the back.
They could also be used for decoupage.
My mother used to save the prettiest ones to decorate with. She usually taped them to the wall in the shape of a christmas tree.

You can use them to decorate plain white or craft brown colored gift bags for next years gifts. You can buy the bags at any craft store like Michale's.
