I'm a fan of folk and rock like Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Deathcab for Cutie, Alanis Morissette, does anyone have any suggestions for a artist to try?

It's getting really hard to take anyone dating Jessica Bimbo seriously, but I've liked John Mayer's last two albums. Also Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head.

KT Tunstall is very good, John Legend is also a good choice. I also listen to Donovan Frankenlieter and G Love who are friends of Jack Johnson.

Coming from Australia we have a fairly healthy folk scene, you may have heard of the Waifs who have been doing the folk circuit in the states but we have others here to. Try John Butler Trio, Bomba, Pete Murray, and Xavier Rudd. You should be able to find them on itunes.
You might also look into our local rock acts as well. Australian rock is really good but to far away and has to much competition in global markets for to many bands to get known overseas but a bit of research, check yahoo aus for example, should get you on the right track.

John Prine or The Byrds. You can probably get sample songs off of some websites like musicmatch.com.

I like folk rock myself.
