I am a teenager, and I think the only way that someone could get through to me as an older person would be to connect with my situation or use similar experiences to provide help. I know most of us don't like lectures, because we don't pay attention and we don't really take them seriously unless the person giving the lecture takes us seriously. As a teen, it is also hard to believe that an older person could know how I feel because to me and many others, the time periods of adults now to people our age are so different. I would relate to them as opposed to lecturing them on what you THINK may be the problem.

The majopr thing is to remember they are not as dumb as people take them credit for. If you bullshit them many of them will know. If you are untrustworthy they will know. If you have an alterior motive they will know.
