Mathematicians generally stop giving names to polygons after about 12 sides. They would just call an eighteen-sided shape an "18-gon".
However, if you want a technical term for it, you can call it an octadecagon or octakaidecagon which have prefixes that literally mean "8 10" or "8 and 10".
There's a big list on Wikipedia, if you are interested.

Eight-sided is octagon, eighteen sided is dekaoctagon. But polygons with more than 12 sides can be called the number of sides and gon.
For example, a 15 sided figure can be called a 15-gon...
That's for a 2-D figure.
A 3-D eight sided figure is called an octahedron.
eighteen sided? dekaoctahedron? I'm not sure on that one.

An eight sided shape would be called an octagon. However, if you meant an eighteen sided shape, then that would be called an 18-gon, from what I was taught in Geometry.

An octagon is an eight sided shape.
An octadecagon/octakaidecagon is an eightteen sided shape.
After around 12 they call them by their number and "side-agon" so that can also be "18side-agon"
You don't usually need to name an 18 sided shape. But if it comes up, this should help.

Eighteen sided figure, or a big blob, or Dave. Really depends what you want to call it. I wouldn't worry about it, it probably won't come when called anyway.

octagon. this is based on the eigth number in the latin numeric system. Its also why we get october, because it used to be the eigth month in the roman calender.
