I was born in Malta, raised in Australia and been on a holiday to Malta when I was 12. Now I am thinking about to go back for at least 12 months. What do you think?

Thanks malteser, I do have relatives in Malta, that is half the reason why I want to go back, plus it will be a new adventure for myself to explore my counrty of birth.

I visited Malta last summer and stayed at the excellent Hotel Juliani in St. Julian's Bay which is owned and operated by my old friends from my college days. I loved Malta and the people were so friendly and really kind.

The only small thing I disliked were the many loud young groups of Germans that study English in Malta during the summer.

Gonzo is really nice to visit and I remember this small excellent Maltese restaurant up in the castle of Gonzo. I had the best food there. Malta is not cheap but if you live in any major European city then you are used to these prices.

Incase you like some spicy food then please visit the Thai restaurant at the Hilton hotel in St. Julian's. My wife is Thai and even she said it was the best Thai food she ever ate in her life!

I was in Malta for 3 months back in 2003. It was really pricey there. I didn't really care for it, no offense. I suppose that if you're Maltese, it would be significant to you. 12 months is a long time though.

Hmm I am from Malta actually. Do you like it here? I mean you can't live in a country where you don't feel comfortable. You can give it a try especially if you have some relatives here. It'll be easier to adapt to our lifestyle etc...
Anyway good luck :)

i live here now, compared to other places its way different. If i were you I would come to see family, but come with an open ticket, rather than one with a definite return date. That way if you dont find it all that you hoped for you can return sooner. Some places are best to visit only and not make a years stay out of.
