Actually, Rod Stewart's version is a cover. The song was originally recorded by Crazy Horse, Neil Young's band.

The only versions of the song to make the Billboard charts were: Rod's in 1979 and 1980, Pamela Stanley's in 1983, and Geofferey Williams's in 1996.

I Don't Want to Talk About It by Ian Matthews (1974)

I'm not sure but the original was written by Danny Whitten of the band Crazy Horse in 1970.
