I just saw pair of shoes I want to order offline, but instead of simply white, they're specified as being 'chalk.' This new shade of white is completely new to me. Although they're specified as 'chalk,' they still look white to me. What exactly does chalk look like? Cream? Off white? "Dirty" white?

Thanks a bunch to you all for helping me out. I'm actually tempted to not purchase the shoes just because I had to go through the trouble of finding out what the heck 'chalk' meant....
Okay, I'm lying. They're too cute not to buy! :-) Thanks again, all! :-D

There are so many different names for "white" that it's beginning to get slightly annoying. When something is labeled...blah blah blah and then white or white and then blah blah blah, it's just another way to say white. People tend to believe that there are different colors of white (no joke, I know several who do) when in reality, it's just white, no other colors. Simply white. Just because the shoes say they're "chalk" white, doesn't mean it's any special white, you can't change a color that isn't actually there.

Designers always make up some new way of describing an ordinary color. They call green lettuce and red rouge. Give it a shot; just check the return policy first.

I would assume that they are "white" but, you are the one who saw them, did they white to you? A lot of companies use fancy wording to make items seem more appealing etc. Beyonce's House of Dereon calls black "Onyx" etc.
