I take birth control pills so that means I should not get my period early. Well since yesterday I have been bleeding just a little here and there. My period should not start until next week. Last month I got my period on time but it was very unusual and it was lighter then normal. What would cause this?

Do you take the pill at the same time every day? If not than your period can be erratic. My friend takes the pill and is does not always come at the same time. She deals with spotting and early or late periods. You should also see if your pill has one hormone or two. If it only has one you have to take it at the same time everyday or you may get pregnant. My sister in law did and the doctor had never told her she could until after she was pregnant. Good luck.

How long have you been taking this birth control pill? Also, what is the name of it? I started taking Ortho-Tri Cyclen Lo and on the website it says that you can have some spotting in the first couple months. This month I had some spotting for about a week before my period came. If you have been on this birth control for awhile and it is happening maybe you should talk to you doctor.

The pill causes your periods to be lighter than normal. I'm not sure why you'd get one early, unless you missed a pill or took one late, that can signal your body to start your period. That's why they tell you to take your pill at the same time every day. Also, some formulations of the pill don't work for some women and cause irritating complications. I was on one that worked for me, but the Dr. tried to find me a less expensive one, and it didn't work, nor did the next one she tried me on, so I ended up using the one I originally started with. Ask your Dr. what he/she thinks.

it isn't unusual for your periods to be off during the first few months on the pill. sometimes you will spot during times you otherwise wouldn't...don't stress it - it's normal for a few months. oh, certain pills will lessen the flow!

Spotting occurs when the level of drug isn't working properly. I would connect with my doctor and have it checked out. They may just need to move you to another drug, especially if you have been on this particular brand for some time.

Good Luck.
