Since you like Absolute boyfriend, i recommend other works by Yuu Watase. She's my absolute fave mangaka. You might wanna try: Imadoki!, Alice 19th, Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden. They're all love stories, btw. They all have a few funny moments here and there, but not as much as Ouran High School Host Club.
Meru Puri is another good shoujo manga. I read this manga over loads of times and I love it every time.
I'm a huge fan of Shoujo Mangas, so those are the stuff i recommend! Good lucK!

Have you tried Tail of the Moon, Backstage Prince, Nana, or Vampire Night? My personal favorites are Backstage Prince and Nana.
