If you take Santana in the first round, take a big bat in the second round and hope that Carpenter or Peavy is left in the third round. In many leagues they go somewhere in the third round (at least last year). Both are excellent pitchers, but given the choice, I'd take Carpenter because I like the Cardinal offense to get him more wins. Peavy would get the edge in Ks, but Santana should have you covered there.....

It all depends on wat Number PIk you have. If you 1-5 then the best bet would be to go with an everyday player a "big name player" that people woould like to ahve on there team, whch you could trade for a good pitcher if you needed. Now if you have 6-10 then yea pik Santana eitehr first or second because you still mite have the chance to get him wen it comes round. Also if your league is all bout pitching then take santana, or vise versa if its all about hitting take a good 5 tool guy who can get steals, homers, runs, hits, rbi's everything, "Soriano". In my mind the best bet would have to be an everyday player if you ahve early pik and if u have late pik then take santana because he is the best pitcher in the league.

Wait on Carpenter because he did go down from last year hes still really good but Peavy is to me a lot better. If you wre debating on them 2 take Peavy.

I would say no because it is much easier to match-up manage pitchers during the season. If you don't have a legitimate there will be pitchers that emerge during the season for you to round your roster out with. Also, you can always pick up pitchers who are getting starts against bad hitting teams and then dump them for another one.

you should pick someone from a tougher position to fill.
like A-Rod, J Reyes, David Wright, or a five tool guy like Soriano or Beltran.
