My sister is a new mom and is wanting to make some extra money because her husband is in college so they aren’t living on an income. But she does not want to leave her baby. Meaning she wants something that can be done at home, or that she can bring her little girl to. Any good ideas?
Thanks, your answer is much appreciated!

Also- I mean "her" baby, instead of "bring baby"

It really depends on her skill set. Is there anything she does well? Do they have a computer at home? Can she type or does she have any marketable skills?

She can always apply at Day Care centers that may let her bring her child. Some small businesses will allow children, but it's grown pretty rare.

If she has access to a computer at home, she might try writing resumes or transcription. As suggested above, various crafts come to mind.

She might network with other mothers in the area, the local church, other college students or check with a local job service office to see what's available in the area. The college may also offer some services to the family (Does the college have a day care center she might be able to work in?).

I think you really need to brain storm with her & see what she can do and start looking for work to fit the bill. Depending on her location, some jobs may or may not be available. Perhaps a local temp agency has some work at home jobs?

Perhaps home day care? She might take in another child besides her own? In her own home. Or she might look for work at a Child Care Center often they allow you to bring your child.
Or evening baby sitting is great because a lot of young moms work evenings and it's hard to find reliable child care at that time, the kids basically are sleeping for most of the time. Weekend babysitters are hard to come by as well. There could be single Moms who need babysitting while they go to college.

Laundry is another option. There are college kids who hate doing laundry or going to the laundrymat. She charge for doing regular laundry (not drycleaning) if she has a washer and dryer in her place. There are plenty of college kids with money who would pay for this service.

She should be very careful there are a lot of stay at home scams out there. Multi level marketing and such which just take advantage.

Since she is near a college is there are a way she could waitress at a club in the evening while hubby is with the baby? Working a few hours at a place like this will net more money than most jobs. Not talking about a strip club.

IM THERE!

i am a sitter-- meaning i sit with an elderly woman who needs help getting up and down and i make her meals...
tell her to look in the paper for any oppurtunities like this one--
i take my 7 month old daughter with me. the daughter of the woman i sit with understands what i am going thru and thinks its great. plus... i have a happy baby that lights up whenever the elderly woman is around so i guess that helps.

also.. i dont know what your state laws are but in my state you can keep up to 4 children in your home without a daycare license... one or two children would be a small juggle but a big paycheck for a "stay at home mom".

She could get a job that she works out of her home. Or someone who does stuff on the computer. She could also make crafty stuff like custom made cards for people. Or she could make scrapbooks for people. To make a scrapbook all you have to do is take a couple courses of how to. Also if she has a basement she could have a creative memories shop with tables for people to work on. Then she can charge a few dollars for people to use her basement to do work that they could not do at their home. My friends mom does that. She has products in her basement. You can also charge people. People would pay to not mess up their house. Plus if she chose that she could charge people.

She could babysit during the day! people pay alot for you to watch their kids!

I hope i help. If nothing i suggested works out post another question. I will watch your Question. It sounds like your sister is a really good mom. And is trying to bo more than anything. She sounds so sweet for actually sacrafissing so much for the baby.

GOOD LUCK!!!!! :)

There is very little that will accomodate her family. On one hand you have a family who was financally ill-equiped to have a baby. On the other you have a family trying to suceed in life.

Any money-making ways on the internet will be through selling merchandise through Ebay. That's it. Those survey sites are scams, and they look horrible on a resume.

Is there a relative or a friend she can ask to babysit in the evenings while she and/or her husband work part-time evening jobs?

Make a lyrics website, those sites are always successful. Of course, she would have to know codes and stuff like that. But, those actually bring in fairly decent money, you get the money when people click adds on the site.

Another way of bringing income would be for her to take up baby sitting if she has the capacity .....
