My boyfriend of over a year is a football fanatic. Matter of fact is WHOLE FAMILY is! I can sit there and pretend that I'm paying attention, but in reality I'm zoning out, thinking about what I'm gonna wear the next day or something. But when it comes to basketball, I'm ALL THERE. The main reason I don't pay attention is because the game of football has ALWAYS baffled me!! Is there a football for dummies website or something I can go on so I can understand it. I wanna get as excited about football as everyone else does...!

There are books: "Football for Dummies" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Football." Both are available on Amazon or at a bookstore, or possibly your library. For some immediate help, check out the following two sites. The Wikipedia article is a little dry, but is has what you need to know.

Football is simple:

When your team has the ball just yell (Get a touchdown) (Come on what kind of a run was that) (pass the ball) if you say those three things while your team has the ball, it will make you seem like you care. When your team does not have the ball just say (Stop them) Dont let them get a first down) Dont let them score) Good stop)

Football for dummies. That is all you need to know

That's really nice of you to want to get involved. Its really not that difficult but to be fair, football has more rules than any other sport so it can get complex. I think there is a book called "Football for dummies" (there's a ton of those "for dummies" books).

The best way to learn the game is to watch, listen and not be afraid to ask questions. Even then there is some things that will still surprize you. Rules change each year so you have to keep up on the new. Good luck..... Fantastic game to enjoy......

Speaking from 20 something years of watching the game....Get your boyfriend and his family to help you learn....My sisters and I sat down with my dad when I was little and we just watched alot of games.....You learn by watching.......But also a good book is Get Your Own Damn Beer" IM watching the game by Holly Robinson Peete....I've I found the book entertaining and interesting.....But first and foremost just watch......Once you start learning the game and learning about the players it gets so addicting...

I would suggest just learning by watching the game, and not zoning out. Ask questions of your bf and his family...that would be a much more efficient way to learn.

the rules are too many to explain, but the goal of the game is to score points by crossing the opposing team 's goal line (so called touchdown).
U can ask ur bf during the game, however I learnt the rules by playing EA Sports' Madden NFL(pc, ps2, xbox etc.)
