Why do we have trouble looking away from gross video clips?

I saw I video of this guy squeezing puss out of a staph infection on his face and it just coming out for like 2 minutes. It was really gross.

With every exposure you build up an immunity and your sense of curiousity seeks out a "stronger dose" of the gross, the extreme or the explicit. If you purposefully shelter your mind from such garbage, your sense of what is decent and repulsive will eventually be restored and you'll be a better person for it.
