ok i've been hearing ppl say that their emo what does it mean?

emo does stand for emotional, but it does not mean they ALL cut themselves, they do NOT ALL commit suicide and they are not all the same.

Emotional. It's those weird teens you get nowadays (i can say that! I'm a teen!) with jet black hair gelled down over one eye and the boys were girls jeans and they listen to music like My Chemical Romance and things like that. Basically they're classed really under the music they listen to, because the music they listen to is all about being alone and crap like that. Depressing stuff, which is why Emo's often complain about their lives because they have nothing better to do. They also slit their wrists and stuff. They're called Emo's because they're OVER EMOTIONAL. And it's just not cool. I'm not saying that if you listen to My Chemical Romance you're an emo by the way...it's just my lovely example. :)
Oh, and don't class them with goths. Goths are different. Emo's where skinny jeans...a goth wouldn't be found dead in them.

It literally means someone who is so depressed that they cut thier wrists typically with razor blades. Its also a style among teenagers that is a derivitave of punk and goth mixed together. Also, it can be noticed by long black hair.
