A Baby Bjorn. Don't accept any imitations, they're the best. I didn't have one with my first child and I wished so badly that I did that for my second child (due in a couple weeks) I told my husband it was the one thing I wanted for this baby. I bought it months ago and it's sitting in the closet waiting for this baby to come.
And if your wife is planning to breastfeed, freezer storage bags for breastmilk are a MUST if she ever wants to get away (and it's healthy to), or if she gets sick. Have her stock the freezer and you'll always have it as a security. If you want to take your wife on a date and leave baby with the sitter, or if your wife gets sick and her milk supply drops, you have the comfort of knowing your baby is still getting the best nutrition possible. Of course, having freezer bags first requires a good breast pump.

Well defiantly a crib or bassinet. We had both keeping the crib in the nursery and the bassinet in our room. It's nice to have a bassinet close for feeding every couple of hours at night. A comfy chair for feeding and rocking baby. If breastfeeding, a good breast pump {I found the Avent pump worked better than my electric pump.} I also loved having a sling. Most people use a front carrier, but I found the sling more comfortable. An infant carseat, which you must have to go home in. Some other great gear is, a study but lightweight stroller, lots of burp cloths, a few light but warm blankets {or halo sacks are awesome}, Avent bottles if bottle feeding. Heat packs, nursing pads and lanolin if nursing. There is defiantly a lot of baby things out there, but that is what seemed to be a must for us. Congrats and good luck with the new baby!

ONESIES!!!!!!!!!!! all those cute outfits you get at the baby shower are cute but never fit right, and they'll just throw up on them and you will change them into a onesie any way. Sleepers/creepers are nice too! Lots of socks! My daughter is almost two and I still can not find a match. She has twelve white socks and none match!Lace, bow, tall.short arghhhhhh! I found itbest to buy a little mesh garment bag to wash the socks in. If not you will never have two again. Can you tell I have sock issues? I also have two strollers.A big fancy one that the infant seat sits on, and a light weight umbrella stroller. I use the light weight one to run in the store quick, or to sit in while we are out side tending the yard.it's also good for when friends tag along with there baby! . I use the big one for walks, at the mall, zoo etc.Receiving blankets also are multi-purpose.So keep lots of those.Swings are a life saver!!!!!!!!! And don't forget a mom's best friend The BINKY! just don't lose it or you will be in trouble! Babies tend to get attached to one.So, one of those little hook things are probably a good idea!
P.S never turn down help! if your aunt says let me cook dinner and watch her while you nap DO IT!!!!! :) LOL:) *GOOD LUCK**

Make sure you get some "time". By that I mean, make sure you accept help from family or friends. Usually with a first child "time" is what you need most, so with all the gadgets that make it easier to help you and your new family function will only work if you are awake to use them! Ask for meal coupons and babysitting hours so you can sleep or watch a movie. The "stuff 'for the baby will depend on what you like to do. For ex. if you like to walk or run ask for a jog stroller or baby pouch. A breast pump or bottles. Cloth diapers or disposable. Feeding spoons, bowls , cups. High chair or feeding table. Maybe a good way to check out a list is to hit a baby registry too. Good luck and congratulations

Must haves (for you to at least get home from the hospital) is a car seat. Some sort of pram/travel system would be handy but you could get away with a sling and a car seat till the baby is a bit bigger. Cot/crib and all the bedding. I would say those are the basic basics. Everything else can be got when you need it or if you want to get it, bouncing seat, play mats, steriliser (handy just in case 'cos you'll have to get some kind of one once you start on solids for the spoons and cups etc), clothes...list could go on. I would suggest you nip into Mothercare (for example) get a catalogue and in the back they have lists for you and then you can just get what you need from that. Good luck with it all...enjoy.

In my opinion some must have items are...
a mirror that mounts on the back seat facing baby (baby is in rear facing car seat) so you can see the mirror in your rear view and see baby's face (I love mine)
A backpack purse (for Mom of course) Nine West has some cute ones out now. This way you don't need a hand for your purse.
Lamaze has a lot of great toys that vibrate, and make noises for newborns. I have a firefly one for my baby. I bought one that was dog as gift. They are brightly colored and every baby seems to respond to them.
Mylecon (or generic infant gas relief) Its great!!
I portable crib (pack n play) It is a basic must have!

Must have baby items are those that your baby needs most. Those items that can help your baby grow and learn faster. See our eBay store for some healthy and helpful items here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/baby2babystore

congrats on your impending fatherhood! my recommendation would be to not bother with 'cute' clothes before they are six months. people will give you cute little outfits, jeans and sweaters etc but they are so impractical and they wear them for a short time so not worth the bother. of course if people buy them use them if and when you can, but don't buy any. just buy onesies, or simple tops and pants
something else i found great was a pack of cloth nappies, even though i use disposables, they are great as burp cloths, nappy changes to put under the baby, and lots of other things.
good luck!

It never fails, everytime we took my 1 year old to wal-mart he got sick a few days later! The shopping carts are gross!!!!! I found a shopping cart cover on e-bay that fits over the whole front of the cart, covers everything that their little hands and mouth can touch. And its soft. It was one of the best things that we have. Go to ebay and type in shopping cart covers and a whole bunch of them, every color you could want, will pop up. Im telling you, its a must have! good luck
