Hello,

(ANS) In my considered opinion its NOT that men cover up their feelings as such, men have a very different way of showing their deeper emotions than woman do. Men have a different emotional pace to woman, perhaps it just takes them longer to get to the same kinds of feelings than women.

**Men are socially & culturaly conditioned from when they are very little NOT to expose their emotions? why because boys & men have to live in a macho world of competition. This extreme competitiveness is one reason that men dont expose their deeper feelings because it would be seen as a sign of weakness to other males who are competiting with you.

**Actually being in a group of men when feelings & emotions are shown, I've seen men being very powerful as a result of showing their real feelings. Personally I dont see showing feelings as a sign of weakness at all, I see it as a man being fully intouch with himself.

**Men have had to conform to 2,500 years of patriachie & its patrichie that also conditions men to behave in a less emotionally giving way.

**In my opinion, there is nothing more lovely to see a father being loving towards his son. Something that seems rare or even frowned upon in our society (not in Africa by contrast).

**I always feel very moved when I see men being vulnerable enough to cry. Dont think men dont cry when they loose a partner or girlfriend, or loved one because they do I've witnessed it.

Guys shouldn't have to cover up.
They need to show. let out their real feelings.
Us women do.
It will make a better person and man .
Showing feelings is a good thing for the relationship. It is
being honest and showing emotion is good for the soul.
It makes you feel better.
Men need to cry more . Not hold it in..

Not all guys cover up their feelings. But many of them do because they are taught that "real men don't express feelings" which is pretty sad. It kind of shocked me, but on a recent episode of The Bad Girls Club on MTV, the boyfriend of one of the girls was the more emotional of the pair. It was refreshing to see a guy who could admit that he needed to feel that he meant something to his girlfriend, without coming off like a whiney baby.

Me I do it because one time I let a girl convince me it was OK. My grandfather had passed away and I hadn't shed a tear. She talked to me about it and I ended up crying a little bit. 2 days later I am getting told by my friends that she told everyone that a balled like a baby and it was the most pathetic thing she had ever seen. Since then I have kept it to myself.

Cause our society( at least from a man's perspective) looks down on the show of emotions. Also because many of their fathers were bad to them or they didn't have any around, so they don't know how to act.

Men have smaller corpus collosums -- bridges that connect the left and right hemispheres of the brain. The male brain is more divided up between emotion (in one hemisphere) and verbalization (the opposite hemisphere). Females, in contrast, use both hemispheres for verbalization and emotion. Thus, it is easier for women to express their emotions.

Maybe because they think that if they show any type of emotion or feeling that other people will think that they are less of a man.

Society has told us since we were little, little kids that it is not OK to cry or show emotions.

This message comes from our dads, our moms, our coaches, and even our girlfriends.

All of these individuals -- in one way or another -- has conditioned us to suck it up, to work or play with pain and not show it, or to be the rock that everyone can rely on.

We don't because we don't like to feel vunerable. We don't wanna show ourselves breaking down. We will only break down if completely necissary. WE usally it isn't. Showing emotions is sign of weakness to some but to me it's a sign of cofidence. I mean at least they got enough balls to cry dead straight in front of your face.

because as soon as we do, you ladies don't respect us as much. I know I'll get thumbs down and girls will say 'that's not true!' but it's a fact. There's a great quote from a woman: "I like a man who's not afraid to cry...but doesn't." That sums it up perfectly.
