I don't want to be the next Madonna, but my goals are to be a writer, screen writer, director, photographer, somewhere in their. Is it hard to become those?? And if I do make it in that industry can I be able to live off of my salary?


I'm asking cuzz when I graduate high school my mom is moving to Texas and I don't want to move there with her, I'm thinking of staying in the city and starting my goals.

First of all, you should focus your goals. Preparation to be a screen writer is very different from preparation to be a director.

And it's an unknown if you'll be able to live off what you earn. Unless you're a cited writer for an ongoing TV show, your pay won't be "salary." Jobs are infrequent.

The short answer is yes, it will be difficult to establish a career in any of those areas. I'd suggest you make a decision on which field you want to try and study the basics at a university or trade school.

It is a very tough industry to make money in. No one is willing to help you out to be nice. You will have to prove your talent to get noticed.

Expect to have several day jobs for possibly years before you can consider entertainment a full-time career.
