actually the article you point at says 16 million not 133

"ExxonMobil Corp. gave $16 million to 43 ideological groups between 1998 and 2005 in a coordinated effort to mislead the public by discrediting the science behind global warming, the Union of Concerned Scientists asserted Wednesday"

Yes they did (and it was $16 million). The tragic thing is the uninformed use the "findings" from these "studies" to contest global warming exists and the effect of man on global warming. Why would a company actively try to mislead the public if global warming was really just a hoax or not affected by man in any way? If these assertions were true, Exxon should just sit back and watch as real scientists say that man has no impact on global warming (which is not the case). But they aren't. They are involved in a smear campaign against the real (non partisan) scientific community and that is just more proof they are desperate to hide the fact that the gas people burn everyday is hurting them. This is the same kind of thing that happened when the EV1 (electric car) came out. There they said the positives of driving a car that doesn't burn gas were "dubious." It would be funny if people weren't stupid enough to believe them.

(This has nothing to do with debate. The real scientific community should debate this, not an oil company who's dependent on people still buying gas with wanton abandon.)

You call it funding anti-global warming studies, they would call it research.

Just because you are actually seeking out the truth behind an opinion that does not agree with the flavor of the month liberal mantra then it's some conspiracy of the right.

Yes, and what a waste. $133 million could have put a new Gideon Bible in every motel room in the Western Hemisphere.

So zero debate on the issue is allowed?
