Everyone loves the way I sing. I've sang in contests and I sing at church every week. When I recorded myself, I hated the way I sounded. I actually cried because I was so disappointed in the way I sounded. How do I get myself to hear myself the way other people do because I think I suck! But everyone wants me to make cd's for them and stuff....?

Well, if you want to settle it once and for all, go on an "American Idol" audition. They'll let you know right away.

Well, I have recorded me already also, and I don't like how I sound either.
I think that we would never know how we sound for other people. But recording oneself serves as a good exercise to know our weaknesses. I didn't know that I was doing something wrong until I heard myself. Whoa!!! I began to practice and I hope I corrected it!!!
So, don't be so bad at yourself!!! You are doing good!!! You only have to get accustomed to your own voice. And look at this recording sessions as a way to learn to sing better, so you will soon sing like an angel, or at least sound like one at your ears LOL.

I recorded myself once and hated it too. Everyone loves my voice, but I think it sounds so ugly and whiny. It could be the recorder, like the quality or whatever, but if it's a good recorder, then maybe we just hear ourselves different than how other hear us.
