It means they tie your fallopian tubes together. That way, the egg can't travel up the fallopian tube and implant into the uterus.

It is a surgical procedure whereby the fallopian tubes (the passage between the ovaries and the uterine cavity) are severed (cut) and then clamped, cauterized, or removed entirely. The old method had the fallopian tubes actually knotted, hence the term "tied."

There is an alternative to the surgical procedure called Essure. It's a micro-insert that is placed at the opening of the fallopian tube via the vagina/cervix/uterus. Scar tissue grows around the insert, blocking the tubes and effectively cutting off passage of the ovum (egg) from the ovary to the uterine cavity.

It means they tie up your fallopian tubes up so the egg can't hatch inside you and make you pregnant. It's basically the way human females get fixed. The only thing is though that they will have to cut you open in order to do that, which I guess would be considered major surgery. But if you get it done, you won't be able to get pregnant (like you're taking a pill that can guarantee 100% protection all the time). It will not protect you from STDs though.

This is also called a tubal ligation. The Fallopian Tubes are tied to prevent fertilization of an egg, thus prevent pregnancy.

The medical term is tubal ligation. It's a form of birth control where the fallopian tubes are closed via surgery.

Tubal ligation. Where the fallopian tubes are tied in an attempt to prevent pregnancy. They can come untied, though.

having one's "tubes tied" is an operation that woman can have so that she can no longer get pregnant; it means having your fallopian tubes "tied" together (i'm not sure if that is actually literal or not, or if it involves some other kind of maneuver); in any case, i believe it is non-reversable.
