tobacco advertising is controversial because young people might see it and be influenced to want to try it. it's also controversial because the company has to advertise to make money, but they are advertising something that causes cancer and other diseases.

Its deleterous effects on ones health have been proven.....then comes the moral questions about justifying an advertising blitz aimed at young people to try to get them to start smoking/chewing. Its also kinda strange that the tobacco industrys' products have been condemned by government warnings and subsidized by the same government that stands ready and willing to collect the tax revenues. Strange huh????

Tobacco industries use imagery to suck people in. Some use items such as game controllers, or candy, or sometimes even kids(teens usually) at parties to try and persuade a younger audience to use their products. It doesn't matter if you hate their commercials, if you remember them, that's what they're aimimg for. Nothing else except persuasion.
