im a manager at a resturant and if you need a job i would sugesst a waitress job because you get money everyday and it help your esteem because you talk to people and when you go out yourself you would most likely be able to be social but at the same time be confortable also you can get your ged at the same time which would take care of your education and if you want you can go to college and if you like working in the resturant than if you work hard and try and learn everything they teach you thanyou could move up as far as management or even a general manager by time you're 25 everybody goes through stuff but you have to decide if you are going to make or break you stay with your parents untill you get your money up and finished with your educational goals it will help you and talk to your parents about some of the options you would like to explor as a server depending on the resturant you work at you could make 50-150 dollars a day also you can save up and get your bartending liciences an they make about 1000.00 per week most likely way more which is real good if you like hair you could even go to a cosmitoligy school and learn how to do hair make up nails feet massage and with any of these feilds if you have paitents and save and make wise decisions than you can have your buisnss. as far as you caring what other people are saying about you you have to live for you you cant live life pleasing other people or doing what others want or feel that you sould do you ll never please everybody but if you set goal for yourself and accomplish them thats how you can please your self and set your self up finicaly . this is the time now to do that you stay at home take advantage of that and use it for good spend time with your parents no parent wants o see their child like how you say you feel about your self and find a job get some money in the bank start taking care of your self make goals for yourself for finanicaly, health wize, educational wize and then start worring about moving out because if you go you want make sure that you are going to all right so prepare!!!!once you start taking care of your self your confidence will be there its a wounder how making your own money, paying your bills, taking care of yourself, getting your education, buying new clothes andhair cuts manicures andpedicures will make you feel. but you have to want it and do it because youre still young you have a whole life in front of you dont spen it on thinking on what you should of done but spend it on what you have done and what you gonna to do. everything will be all right have faith pray work read set goals and excue. spend time with only good friends (the ones who want you to do better not the ones who brings you down) read get to know yourself and what you like and not what everyone else want spend time with family talk to them about your problems they will give you truthful answers. i wish you good luck

Go back to school or get your GED once you have finished that find a job and start showing some responsibility... not trying to be negative... You are 20 years old.. it is time to grow up, and the fact that you are asking what you should do shows that you have real character and are trying to make a change in you life. That's a good thing. But first things first go back to school or get your GED and then maybe on to college. You will make more money if you do. Do not listen to all the negative jerks on this forum... Best of luck.

First off you need to check into getting your GED. Then you have a better chance on getting a good job. Try to get a job at McDonalds, they don't care if you finished high school or not. At least that would be a start while you are studying for your GED. Maybe some others might have some better ideas for an answer. Good Luck.

I think it would be best if you can find a way to get yourself back in school. Many of the jobs out there you really do need at least a High School diploma. I think you need to get over thinking about what others think of you. Just be yourself. It really doesn't matter what others think about you. What matters is that you accomplish something in your life. You need to set goals. You can set big goals and then smaller goals you need acheive in order to one day acheive your big goal. You could also start out trying to get a job at places like McDonalds, Burger King, Grocery Stores and so on. Usually with those stores you don't need a High School Diploma, but with other really good jobs you do. I guess you just have to think about whether you really want to be stuck working at those jobs all your life or is it better to just go back to school and ignore what others think about you? After all, if you think about it what's most important? I think a good education is more important. I hope this helps. I hope you can get your life focused on what is important and can eventually find a good job. I am sure you can do it! God bless! Your friend ;) Violet

Pick up your H.S. diploma, take some community college classes and look at a 2 year degree you might find interesting. Folks at college will care less if you find boys or girls interesting. So get over that part. Clean yourself up. You are young and the future may hold a lot for you.
The retail industry (restaurants or retail stores) can offer you simple lower paying jobs for the short term. With a degree you will double your potential and your income.

It's not too late to go back and complete your GED (high school diploma equivalent). That would be a good start.

Also, if you can get even a minimum-wage level job and really devote yourself to it and learn about the business you may find opportunities there as well.

Canada here - we legalized gay marriages even - I don't care. Anyways - I would recommend that you take ANY job and keep it for a few months to show job stability and reliability (showing up for work etc.). This gives you a bit of reliability and steady experience. Look for a slightly higher paying job - you will find one. But then you have references from 2 employers - you left the first one for better pay. Now look for nite school classes in anything that interests you, online courses or part time schooling. This leads to bigger and better jobs. I was a "bum" for years and follwed this route. Today I have a medical degree in biophsycology. I was the oldest kid in my class but I made it!

what do you WANT to do?
i'd suggest going back to school, start with getting your GED or diploma & start taking classes, exploring what you want to do.
college can be a lot of fun, & you don't have to worry about what people think so much & can start over.

Get your GED before you get older. Then try to take college classes while working to gain employable skills.
